Karlsruhe is very easy to reach by train. The Deutschen Bahn timetable information provides detailed information on traveling by train. There is also the option of traveling by long-distance bus, e.g. with the ADAC Postbus or MeinFernbus.
If you arrive by train or bus, you will arrive at the main train station in the south of Karlsruhe. From here you have various options to reach building 10.50 of the IfR on the university campus (KIT Campus South): by tram, taxi or rental car.
The south campus is centrally located in the city center of Karlsruhe and can be easily reached by public transport. All tram and bus lines are maintained by the Karlsruhe Transport Association KVV, so you can use a uniform ticket for all trams and buses. Several tram lines depart from the station forecourt and serve the university campus. We recommend using line 2 (blue) in the direction of Wolfartsweier or line 4 in the direction of Waldstadt, which will take you to the Durlacher Tor / KIT-Campus Süd stop without changing. The ocher-colored high-rise in the northwest of the stop is building 10.50, in which the institute is housed on the third floor.
Input for navigation devices: Adenauerring 7, 76131 Karlsruhe.
- Coming from all directions on the A5 motorway (Frankfurt-Basel), leave it at the Karlsruhe-Durlach exit.
- Continue west towards Karlsruhe / Innenstadt (first exit) - not towards Durlach.
- Follow the four-lane entrance road (Durlacher Allee) to the west until the sign “KIT-Campus Süd”, then turn right to the north (Adenauerring).
- After about 200 meters turn left and you will reach the main entrance to the campus. To the right in front of the barrier there are short-stop parking spaces where you can stop to get an entry permit at the gate, without which you are not allowed to enter the site by car.
You can choose between several airports to travel to / depart from Karlsruhe.
